All in all Paris Fashion Week looked pretty great except for the fact that fur is still really popular right now, which makes me want to barf… I choose some of my favorites from the group in the best taste possible.
Enjoy!
Looking around for some new street fashion blogs from Milan, with no luck, we found the well established VLC (Viste la Calle) from Santiago, Chile. Use google chrome if you must to translate the site but in general, street fashion goes beyond language and that’s why I love it so much.
VLC includes a gallery of street fashion photos, great blogs on the fashion world, trends and inspiration (you may need chrome for this part) and all from a South American perspective. I can’t believe I haven’t come across this site yet in all the years of SFW (that’s us). They’re a great inspiration to what we would like to be, if we didn’t need full time jobs.
Check out their blog, and see more like these great looks on their site.

Even if you didn’t grow up in the 80s, I think most of us can appreciate the retro qualities of shows like The Care Bears, My Little Pony, Fraggle Rock and Rainbow Bright.
It’s not often that you see tee with these images on them anymore and of course Loony Tunes was ruined and tainted completely by companies like Walmart making it into the worlds most white trash clothing line.
I like cute and retro things and thought I might share these cute tees with my readers, for a little retro flashback or possibly you will want one! Made by Uniqlo, They are super affordable, and since everyone is buying their Spring and Summer wardrobes, it’s always a relief to find a few nicely priced tees!
Just £7.99
Katy Perry is the new celeb representative for GHD Hair, a UK company with a world renowned reputation and celebrity draw. Aside from the shameless promotion of a company I’ve never heard of, I was drawn to the marriage of Perry and GHD because of the photos. As celebrities go, I have to say I actually like Katy Perry’s style quite a bit and like her TV appearances I catch from time to time, the new photos for GHD Hair really caught my eye. I was especially exceited when I heard that the photos were shot by David LaChapelle . I first saw LaChapelle’s work at MOMA when I lived in Argentina several years ago, and appreciated the amount of work that goes into them, the concepts and messages. The photos at the museum were as tall as a house and full of strange and interesting concepts (check out his site). So here they are; I wanted to share them. Even though they are old news to some, they are beautiful photos, and though they may not be street fashion photos, they have elements that I appreciate greatly thanks to LaChapelle. Enjoy!
Click the images to see them large.
Katy Perry is pretty much set for California Dreams Tour from now until November this year, covering much of the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. So there’s a good chance you could catch her no matter where you are in any of those places.

The ambience was one of luxury, the walls were padded leather, the girls pouted with a bright lip and winked with a glitter lined eye. I wasn’t at Studio 54, but the David Jones autumn/winter collection launch. The decedent evening played homage to an era GFC was just an unusual combination of letters.
The runway parade showcased a multitude of high end David Jones designers from One Teaspoon to Alex Perry. The show theme of 70’s glamour was tied woven through the array of designers thanks to Nicole Thompson of MAC Cosmetics and her creative team.
The models sported one of three carefully crafted looks, with one of each David Jones ambassadors leading the pack. (Nicole Trunfio, Samantha Harris, Alexandra Agoston) A Charlie’s Angels – Farrah Fawcett look, an “Addicted to love” Robert Palmer look and my favorite creative look – the Biba. Nicole T chose bold lips, dewy skin and and overload of glitter to create the looks using MAC Cosmetics.
FROM THE TEAM AT MAC, ALL ABOUT THE LOOKS!
LOOK 1: 70’S FARRAH FAWCETT INSPIRED
A beautiful Monocromatic look where we have sculpted and highlighted the face using creamy textures in shades or Champagne, Caramel and Honey
Key Products used: Bamboo and Hush Cream Colour Bases, Reflects Pigments and Love Nectar LustreGlass
LOOK 2: ROBERT PALMER MUSIC VIDEO INSPIRED A wonderfully overstated look that accentuates all the features of the face - is a smooth and sexy way! Robert Palmers “Addicted to Love” Music Video was the main inspiration for the glossy look.
Key Products Used: New Mega Metal eyeshadows in Sexpectations and Papparazz-she for this warm reflective smoky eye, Lip Mix in Crimson to paint the red lip and deepened at he edges with Purple Haze Matte shadow for a sharp sexy look and of course Gloss Texture! Used on the eyes, lips and cheeks – this Product was a must-have product across all trends overseas!
LOOK 3: BIBA INSPIRED For this lovely look – all the products have been applied in a circular blended way to keep it pretty, girly, young and fresh – The glitter popped on the eyes gives a nod to Studio 54 !
Key Products used: Posey Crème Blush patted onto the cheeks and lips for a gorgeous stain… Reflects Glitters, and New Exxxhibitionist Kissable Lipcolour for this glossy kiss!
Nicole tells us that from these shows that “The idea of fun and colour is it’s own trend for winter. It’s fresh and it’s glowing, play with colour and have fun with makeup.”

I spy with my little eye a new Sportsgirl like’s collection, and this one progresses from just a like to some serious fashion love. London designer Richard Nicoll has a cult fashion following with the likes of Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Diane Kruger lapping up his every last seam and tailored detail. The collection will be available in selected stores and online from 28th March 2011. It’s going to get snapped up pretty quick, so you best be on your marks. Sportsgirl explains the collection below!
l
“Sportsgirl celebrates its latest and most fashion forward collaboration to date with London based, Australian raised designer Richard Nicoll. He delivers his beautifully considered design approach to Sportsgirl for Autumn, with a range of brilliantly crafted individual pieces.”
The 9-piece Richard Nicoll collection for Sportsgirl stays true to his core aesthetic of combining contrasting ideas, such as masculine fabrics with feminine tailoring. Taking a tomboy version of the preppy US East Coast schoolgirl as inspiration, Richard presents wearable separates in gorgeous silhouettes, delivered in traditional, masculine fabrics of fine checks, houndstooth plaid and a narrow stripe juxtaposed with feminine heart motifs and velvet bow details.
Richard had this to say of the collaboration; “I am delighted to be working with Sportsgirl on this capsule collection. From the beginning I sought to design a range that felt fresh, young and relevant for Sportsgirl, but was also something progressive, confident and fun. Adding the heart motif and some feminine silhouettes translate well to soften the masculine elements and at its core the range really reflects the spirit of both Sportsgirl and Richard Nicoll. I’m very pleased with the outcome.”
prices range from $80 – $200

Finally Gossip Girl is back on USA tv after the Christmas break. Gossip Girl the CW drama which follows the lives of the elite socialites of the Upper East Side is a serious guilt pleasure of mine. The fashion, the jewels, the cars, the parties it’s all very lust worthy. If you aren’t a Gossip Girl addict yet, quickly grab the first season box set and absorb the unattainable.
Actress Leighton Meester plays the role of convincing queen Blair Waldorf on the hit TV drama. The character Blair has impeccable dress sense, but a very different style to Leighton in ‘real life’. I find Leighton’s style more low key, think J Brand’s instead of Jimmy Choo’s. Leighton has been in the media alot more recently as she expands her career to include music and film, so there’s been even more chances to lust over her seriously cool wardrobe. Here’s a few need to know facts about Leighton and her style!

Having just moved to Sydney this was the first event I have had the privilege of attending. It’s great to gather with like minded women and discuss health, fashion and of course beauty. A gorgeous breakfast makes the morning even more enjoyable!
The event was hosted by the Vice President of Product Development at Jurlique, Isabella Richards. A skincare veteran of over 20 years I was honored to learn about the range from the makers hands.
The Purely White Skin Brightening Range is the latest release from Australian beauty brand Jurlique, the global beauty brand founded here in Australia. Jurlique provides luxury beauty products without harsh chemicals and uses plants and extracts from Australian soils to enhance your natural beauty.
Purely White is the natural way to brighten your skin. The products do so by using a new science innovation pioneered by Jurlique called VitaBrightX which is a collection of key natural ingredients including Kakadu Plum, Licorice Root, Black Elder and Willow Bark. Together these Australian farmed ingredients work to deliver a reduction in dark spots in 75% if clinical evaluation participants. (I actually feel safer with results when they aren’t ridiculous statistics like 99%, 75% just seems more truthful!)
Some key facts about the range.
The system is designed to work together, so following each step is easy and the best way to deliver results |
95-98% of the ingredients are natural |
Can lighten skin and dark spots in just 4 weeks. |
It’s perfect for sensitive skin |
The range is launched is February 2011. Get ready!
There is nothing worse than being the last of your friends covering up zits. Whether you’re just coming out of your teenage years or well into your 20′s, having acne past the age of 16 is a social nightmare. I know this as I am now 22 and still battling blemishes. When I’ve searched around on the internet for information on “what to do to get rid of blemishes” the information has been uninformative, irrelevant and hardly ever from a source I actually trust! SO in an attempt to combat acne and misleading information I am going to be using myself (and possibly a few ring in friends) to become skin care guinea pigs over the next few weeks.
This first blog looks at Jurlique’s purifying mask range of products designed to rebalance the oils in your skin. .
Price: $55AUD 40ml
Stockists: Jurlique stores and David Jones.
Key Ingredients: Green Tea for rebalancing,
We love the: thick texture and great smell
Verdict: It’s a great product with some serious skin smoothing benefits. The thick texture draws out imperfections and leaves skin soft. It doesn’t actually clear spots but works as a mechanism to prevent spots appearing anytime soon!

Your cosmetics plays a big role in the state of your skin
So many girls are under the impression that your moisturizer works as a barrier against your foundation, powder and blush. This is simply not true, anything you put onto your skin is going to seep into your pores and have a positive or a negative effect. By checking out the ingredients of cosmetics before you buy will save you heartache and frustration when you’ve still got spots even with a killer skin care regime. Talk to beauty counter managers about your skin and ask for recommendations for acne friendly foundation and powder.
You can eat chocolate
It’s such a horrible myth that chocolate cause acne. I don’t know who started it but it’s completely false. Indulge in a Dairy Milk bar tonight.
You don’t necessarily need to see a dermatologist if you have pimples
If you are thinking of visiting a dermatologist for a few spots here and there, think carefully about the money your about to blow or see a GP first. Dermatologists are A. expensive and B. offer medical treatment you might not need. Try a few different recommended cleansers first. Try Origins Zero Oil Pore purifying toner and moisturizer with Saw Palmetto and Mint from Kit Cosmetics
Spot treatment works
Spot treatments are so great for drying out spots. I became discouraged after using many different supermarket brand spot clearing treatments and not seeing any results. I’ve now come to realize that paying that little bit extra for a dermatologist tested treatment will make a world of different to the redness and swelling of your spots. Try Mario Badescu Drying Lotion $48.95 or Dermalogica MediBac Overnight Clearing Gel $64.00 from Kit Cosmetics or (pictured)

Adorable, beautiful, charming, dainty, delightful, pleasant, pretty, it’s all a bit CUTE! M.A.C has a introduced seriously girly and fun take on all things a little bit cute, quite cute to be precise. It takes me back to my high school days when my favourite things to do on the weekend were to watch the The OC & Crossroads, so in honor of the new M.A.C Quite Cute collection I pulled them out, baked some cupcakes and belted out a Britney tune or two!!
