IMPERIA- Golden Retriever Needs New Home
Jan 10, 2011. Home Needed for ABBY, a lovely three-and-a-half-year-old female Golden retriever dog. She is well trained, walks on or off leash doesn't bark and very, very friendly. In short a perfect companion. Her owner Mike lives alone and travels a lot and so is looking for a 'good home'- preferably a family with kids. She is fully vaccinated, microchipped and healthy! She is good with other dogs - very good with children and people in general- also she likes going after cats- but without hurting them ( Just barking...) She is house-trained, clean and trouble free- also very affectionate.

Nobody Wants Her - Abruzzo
November 17, 2010
I have just received this appeal from Rhona in Abruzzo. Can anyone help? She writes: "In July a young female dog was abandoned here at Cellino Attanasio. My commune eventually sterilised and microchipped her but could not take her to the local kennels are they are full. I advertised on our forum and at the time she had no name. I named her Misce as she has been here too long to have no name.I have two dogs and am not able to offer her a permanent home. Misce is of a soft mouth hound variety and could be both a household pet/working dog. She is under one year old according to my vet. She is gentle, loving,
full of fun and lots of energy a joy to watch as she runs and dances after butterflies. ( she never catches them). She needs a loving home with lots of space to run around, a firm but gentle hand and TLC. I have taught her basic commands. I do pray that someone will offer her the home she so badly needs. Here are my details

BASSOTTO (DACHSHUND) URGENTLY NEEDS LOVING HOME - ABRUZZO
Nov 13,2010
This appeal was sent to me by Kirsten. Can anyone help? She writes: "We found this "bassota" lost and with several cuts on her legs and belly. She is OK now, but she needs a home. We must return to the US and cannot afford to bring her. She is very obedient and eager to please. For example, she will stay close to you on a walk and you can bring her to a store and tell her to come inside or wait outside. She is spayed and registered (with a microchip). We keep her inside and she is house trained, but she needs to have access to a yard every at least ten hours or so because she can't "hold it" much longer than that (who can?). She gets along well with our other dogs and a cat, but she is very shy and even afraid to go to her food dish (so the cat gets her food sometimes!) She is a small to medium sized short haired dog (about a foot and a half from foot to top of her head.) She would just love to have a family and a soft bed by the fireplace."

HELP DIEGO - NAPLES BUT CAN BE TRANSPORTED ANYWHERE IN ITALY
November 5,2010
Diego is a young dog of about 12 months. He is medium size (18 kg) and castrated. He was found in a cardboard box at only 50 days old and was almost dead when he was rescued. Christmas had just passed and the little pup seemed an ideal present to give for a little boy's Epiphany gift.
But the novelty of having a new puppy only lasted a few months and soon Diego was confined to the garage where he was almost completely forgotten even by his young owner. Since then Diego has spent every day in the garage and spends just one hour outside where he is tied up (see the photo) in order to let the lady of the house clean up in the garage.
A few weeks ago the volunteer who has written this mail (in Italian I've translated it) was told the family wanted to get rid of Diego either by taking him to the pound or just taking him somewhere and leaving him there. Despite the horrendous and solitary life he has led Diego is still an affectionate and well behaved dog so could go to a family with children and other dogs.
Is there someone out there for him?
Diego is in Napoli but can be adopted anywhere in Italy after the usual pre adoption checks.

CAN YOU GIVE A HOME TO SPARKY? SINALUNGA, SIENA
October 22, 2010
This request came to me the other day so I am also posting it here.
"I am sad to say that my family must look for a new home for our loyal and beloved dog, Sparky. We rescued Sparky from the local pound 2 years ago. He has been a WONDERFUL dog. I have 2 children, aged 7 and 9, and he is very, very gentle and well behaved. I have had him microchipped, all his shots, etc. The vet thinks he is about 6 years old - he weighs probably around 20 KG.
Unfortunately, we are moving from our 5 hectare home to an apartment in Rome, and there is no outside area for Sparky to "be a dog". Sparky could live inside, he is very calm and friendly, but he does need some space to run around, etc. once in awhile. I have a very nice dog house that I would also donate to the new owner. Please let me know if you are interested in giving Sparky the loving home he deserves. Thank you."

THREE DOGS LOOKING FOR NEW HOMES - PUGLIA BUT ADOPTABLE ANYWHERE
October 21,2010
You may know about the wonderful work of British woman Val Mazzotta and her Italian husband Mino. They live in Puglia and despite the fact they only have a small house they have taken in over 20 stray dogs and several cats. They have a website www.pugliapooches.eu and are truly amazing- people who really 'walk the talk'.
Val has been seriously ill recently, has had an operation on her colon and is now undergoing chemotherapy. She urgently needs to start finding homes for some of her beloved strays as she and her husband are finding it increasingly difficult to cope. I am going to put all those needing rehoming on the site, a few at a time. Please think seriously about this and see if you can help Val or know someone who can.
LUPO is a GSD cross, approx 1 to 2 years old, male, intact,a very large obedient dog. Val says he was found thin, dirty, dishevelled and full of ticks and fleas wandering by the roadside. After a few weeks they found someone that wanted him but when Mino went to visit him two weeks later found him on the end of a chain where he been since they left him. Her husband let him free, opened the car door and Lupo jumped straight in. The man said that was fine,as he wasn't vicious enough for him anyway!! Lupo, had a lucky escape! He gets on with cats he knows.
ELLEN is is a dalmation ,approx 1 year old ,female with lovely nature, spayed, very affectionate and obedient. She was found with her identical sister/mother by the bins about a mile from Val's house. They named them Ellen and Alice.Alice had recently had pups, which they never found. Having so many dogs at home, they did not take them home, but used to feed and water them twice a day. They had both dogs spayed. One day Alice was no longer there but Ellen did something quite out of character andshe followed their car! So as she was alone they brought her home. She is delightful.
The same comment about cats applies.
JANEY is a cross breed, spayed approx 1 year old, very affectionate,a little nervous, but obedient. Val and Mino found her wandering around looking for food, she was skin and bones, and had clearly just recently had puppies. After several days of feeding her,she eventually led us to them. Six beautiful little pups. They took the little family home with them and had Janey spayed. Eventually the pups were all rehomed. The same comment about cats applies.
If you can help please email lalbarton@yahoo.co.uk or contact me through the contact page.

Comments
I hope that someone can help me find a temporary home for two beautifully well behaved little friends of mine.
Fergus is an 8 year old Jack Russell (English) and Calamaro is a 4 year old mongrel (from the streets of Amalfi). Both castrated, friendly with everyone, and fantastic with Children.
They like their home comforts, and spend most of the day playing with each other happily, and lounging about in their beds.
They need to be homed together, as they have never been apart, for a period of 6 months, whilst their pet passports are processed.
I hope that someone will be kind enough to help me re-home them, yet brave enough to give them up again in 6 months. As they are both hilariously funny and so affectionate, its hard not to love them as I do.
