lobster dresses,

Who: The Rodnik Band.
What: A presentation-installation at The Dairy, complete with performance from its designer Philip Colbert.
The look: Models took to podiums in lobster dresses, sequin-bikini suits and pop art prints. Entitled Venus in Sequins, it was a fun and fresh collection from Colbert who has been absent from the fashion scene since 2008 - read about it here. "I have written a song of the same name [Venus in Sequins] an homage to Venus in Furs by the Velvet Underground, as a contextual reference to the avant-garde art scene in New York that has influenced the designs. I have developed the collection with intense embroidery and sequin work - I wanted to make each piece with the sparkle and detail that would make the outfits feel like works of craftsmanship and art," Colbert told us.
Where: Visit www.therodnikband.com for further information. Available at Selfridges.

Being unexpected and familiar simultaneously, having many sides that all work and conflict against each other to create a multi-dimensional self," Anderson tells us.

My friend Lady Battikah (Anna) organized this American Gothique fashion show at Mad Myrna’s in Anchorage, Alaska in early May 2009. She described it as Techno Gothic and invited me to photograph it. I did so with some trepidation since I had no idea what I was getting myself into – but it was a blast. From what I can tell, Techno Gothic equates to Gothic with loud colors and attachments such as gas masks. I learn something new every day!

How to Wear Different Types of Jeans

There are certain clothing items that due to their perfection and style have proved their timeless effect despite any fashion trends, and jeans can be considered as making part of this special category. They are one of the safest investments one can make, as they come in different shapes and styles for every body shape, they are comfortable, and can be worn to any occasion if properly accessorized. Jeans proved their versatility throughout time passing from a casual, everyday clothing item to one that can be worn to even more elegant outfits and special events matching them with feminine tops, blazers or smoking jackets, and super feminine stilettos. http://beautyhill.com/img/arts/2010/Jul/23/650/jeans19.jpgEven if they are trendy and versatile, you still need to know how to choose the right jeans for your body type in order to hide flaws and emphasize qualities. Therefore, if you have large hips, it is advisable to choose flared high-waisted jeans to balance your figure. For petite, thin figures, skinny jeans are the best choice.
Yet if you are rather curvy, straight-cut jeans work well. If you have a bit of belly, go for high-waisted jeans, and wear them with a wide belt in order to camouflage your flaws. For those of you with large buttocks, a loose pair of jeans will make you look amazing.

Straight leg jeans

This is the classic type of jeans, which represents a smart and safe investment as they are elegant and comfortable, and very versatile, ideal for every moment of the day. They work perfect for every woman. As jeans are not enough in order to create a special outfit, you need to figure out different possibilities to match them. Straight leg jeans make you feel great especially worn with a pair of high heels and a feminine blouse or a t-shirt with stripes.

  • What's more amazing to this type of jeans is their versatility that allows you to wear denim not only to casual outfits and on relaxing weekends, but also to more formal events that require a certain dress code, not to mention that they are amazing on a night out. For example, if you have to go to a dinner and you just don't know what to take, a pair of straight cut jeans with a shirt or a feminine blouse and a sweater can save your day.

  • if you are working in a more relaxed environment that doesn't require a specific dress code, straight cut jeans matched with a nice shirt or a basic t-shirt and a blazer can offer you a more laid back look, yet office appropriate. In this case, try to choose darker colors. For a more dressed-up look, go for leather boots or shoes, and belts.

  • Skinny jeans

Even though they became one of the most popular fashion trend, you should know that skinny jeans are not for everybody, and they are more appropriate for tall, thin girls. However, if they are properly paired, you can wear them even if you have larger buttocks or bigger hips. They are perfect if you want to look taller especially if you match them with stilettos or peep toe shoes. Yet, the most common way of wearing skinny jeans remains tucking them into high boots.

  • If you want an elegant look, wear your skinny jeans with a blazer and a frill blouse. In order to complete the elegant look, don’t forget to match everything with a pair of pumps, and add your favorite necklace.

  • For a retro look, a sailor style will help you draw all the attention. Wear a pair of skinny jeans, ankle length, with a basic, white t-shirt, a sailor striped blazer, and ballerina flats. Don’t forget to take the oversized sunglasses for a complete retro style.

  • If you want to hide certain flaws, such as large buttocks, pair your skinny jeans with a loose sailor t-shirt and ballerina flats. On the other hand, if you want to camouflage wider hips, match skinny jeans, an oversized t-shirt or a long pullover, and necessarily high-heeled shoes in order to elongate your figure.

  • Boyfriend jeans

Boyfriend jeans have a more masculine cut and flatter almost any body shape. However, petite figures should stay away from them as they might make them look shorter. The ideal combination would be boyfriend jeans, feminine blouses and high-heeled shoes.

  • They are the perfect choice for the weekends or for a shopping spree. Wear them with a loose t-shirt and a pair of ballerina flats and a comfortable handbag. If you are more into an effortless, non-conformist style, a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans, a loose sleeveless t-shirt and a pair of derby shoes is the right combination for you. Moreover, if you add a straw Panama hat, the look is complete.

  • As we have seen, boyfriend jeans look amazing when feminized. Therefore, team them with a cropped jacket, a beautiful belt to emphasize the waist, and super high-heels. Also, you can get a feminine look, matching them with a basic t-shirt, blazer, nude pumps and a clutch.

  • You can mix femininity and laid back style by matching cuffed boyfriend jeans with a lace sleeveless blouse, a pair of flat sandals and a straw hat. For a navy look, team boyfriend jeans with a sailor t-shirt or a white one, a striped blazer, and a pair of ballerina flats.

If the first option sounds appealing than the search for the perfect jumpsuit should be directed towards finding details such as ruffles, sheer fabric insertions or lace. On the other hand if the second option seems preferable than a printed outfit would be a good example when it comes to what you should be looking for in an outfit.
