Who: Heather Blake, shoe designer.
What: With a background in Fine Art, Heather Blake's shoes can be defined by their solid yet sensual sculptural lines. Blake was an art teacher in Hong Kong and London before deciding what she really wanted to do was to design and make shoes. A diploma course at Cordwainers College, a stint at Foster & Sons on Jermyn Street, a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art and winner of ITS5's Accessories Collection of the Year later (2009, in fact), and Blake launched her business.
The look: Blake has collaborated with designer David Longshaw for his autumn/winter 2011-12 collection, creating a pair of seriously cool and floral-festooned vertiginous platforms. Of her designs she describes them as being "predatory, luxurious, sinuous and extreme".
Where: On maternity leave last season, Blake currently makes to order. Prices from £460 to £1,000. Wedge bootie, pictured, £690, www.heatherblake.co.uk.
