Mega fashion group PPR just announced that Yves Saint Laurent chief executive Valérie Hermann had left the company to pursue unspecified career opportunities in the States.
Her departure is a mystery no longer: Women’s Wear Daily reports she has been named president and chief executive officer at Reed Krakoff, effective April 1.
The Reed Krakoff label has been in business for just over a year, having shown its first collection in February 2010. But it didn’t take long for Krakoff (who is also executive creative director of Coach; Coach Inc. is the parent company of Krakoff’s eponymous line) to shoot to veritable fashion stardom, opening sparkling stores on Madison Ave., and in Las Vegas and Tokyo, and gaining fashionable fans like Julianne Moore.
“When I first met Valérie I was immediately struck by her warmth and candor,” Krakoff told WWD. “She has an unparalleled mix of superior merchant skills, exceptional taste level, and business acumen that makes her a rare talent. Her experience and leadership will provide the necessary vision and focus to maximize the global potential of the Reed Krakoff brand, and I greatly look forward to partnering with her.”
Hermann leaves Yves Saint Laurent after over five years at the historic company.
“The possibility of building a new international luxury brand with such tremendous potential comes very rarely,” she said, “and I’m excited about this logical new step in my career.”
