Scuba Doo
"Scuba is my new biker!" proclaimed Julien Macdonald, as he gave Vogue a sneak preview of his spring/summer collection, which he will be showing on Sunday evening. "I was inspired by diving trips, and the dark side of the ocean." By dark he means sea urchin-style spiked embroidery, mother-of-pearl effects and racy zippers on bodycon dresses and aerodynamic graphic leggings. Ensconced in his new, chic townhouse premises on Old Burlington Street, with backer Jamey Hargreaves in an adjoining office, Macdonald was in an ebullient mood. The only thing he is slightly peeved about is the property's English Heritage status, which means he can't "hang" any pictures and can only put up one mirror. Free-standing, free-wheeling is the way to go.

Behind The Scenes
Dutch model 19-year-old Bette Franke crossed the fashion line in Vogue's new take on military, in October's More Dash Than Cash, shot by Kai Z Feng. She arrived at the shoot wearing an off-duty model's uniform - nautical top, trusty YSL downtown, Converse and a loose up-do - and was transformed by hairdresser James Pecis into a glamorous crimped patriot. In addition to admiring the transformation (we want that amazing volume), we couldn't help but notice James's very cool and colourful tattoos. His own hair was covered up by a fetching porkpie hat, which was once a trilby - "I steamed the felt rim so the hat became softer and cut off the brim," he explains. Now, that is the spirit of More Dash Than Cash!

Michael Kors
Michael Kors takes time off to be snapped for Vogue, as he prepares for tomorrow's show. His spring/summer 2010 collection promises pastels with an edge - look out for lavender and pistachio hues, mixed with asymmetric cuts and slivers of transparent Perspex. "We don't want it to look like an old lady at a garden party," he quips
